The Philadelphia Freedoms (4-4) took the Springfield Lasers (3-5) in front of a child friendly crowd on Wednesday afternoon. This was the second meeting of the season between the Freedoms and Lasers, the first was won by the Freedoms 21-18 on the road in Missouri. This time, the Lasers came into Hagan arena and got the win over the Freedoms. This was the fourth match played by the home team in as many days, two of which were played within 12 hours of each other.

Men’s Singles: Benjamin Becker defeated Darian King
Women’s Singles: Sorana Cirstea defeated Sloane Stephens 5-1.
Men’s Doubles: Darian King and Fabrice Martin defeated Benjamin Becker and Jean-Julien Rojer 5-3.
Women’s Doubles: Sloane Stephens and Taylor Townsend defeated Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Sorana Cirstea 5-4.
Mixed Doubles: Fabrice Martin and Taylor Townsend defeated Rojer and Groenefeld 5-4 in the final set, which forced Extended Play. The Freedoms were down 21-18 going into Extended Play but thanks to stellar serving from Rojer, the Lasers won the first game and won the match 22-18.
With the loss, the Freedoms drop below .500 on the season. Next up, the Freedoms (4-5) take on the Orange County Breakers on Friday night, 7:00 p.m. at Hagan Arena. The Freedoms look to put an end to their three game losing streak.
