Freedoms vs. Kastles July 23

The Philadelphia Freedoms have now won four straight matches after beating the Washington Kastles for the second time this season. The Freedoms were carried by Darian King, who had an impressive victory over Sam Groth, who holds the world record for fastest serve, 163.7 mph.

Match Recap: Freedoms 20- Kastles 18

Men’s Doubles: Sam Groth and Bruno Soares defeated Darian King and Fabrice Martin 5-3. 

Women’s Doubles: Taylor Townsend and Sloane Stephens defeated Madison Brengle and Anastasia Rodionova 5-2.

Women’s Singles: Madison Brengle defeated Sloane Stephens 5-2.

Men’s Singles: Darian King defeated Sam Groth 5-2

Mixed Doubles: Fabrice Martin and Taylor Townsend defeated Bruno Soares and Anastasia Rodionova 5-4.

With the win against the Kastles, the Freedoms are now 4-2 on the season and are tied for first place with the defending champion, San Diego Aviators. Their next match is tomorrow night, when they welcome the Kastles, who will be joined by Venus Williams and Sam Querrey.
